Monet Landscapes
This term the Grade 3 and 4 students have been learning about the French Impressionist artist, Claude Monet. We studied his painting style and experimented with his painting technique. The key points that the Grade 3 and 4 students kept in mind while painting in this style were: Monet used a flat ended brush, instead of a pointed one Monet painted with the 'tache' technique; which means 'to touch' the paper Monet used short and quick brushstrokes, instead of smooth long ones like we would usually apply when painting Monet used strong bold colours Some other interesting facts that we learnt about Monet include: Monet was the master of light and colour. Monet painted outside, usually completing his paintings in the one sitting. Monet was actually half blind. * This fact prompted lots of discussion.
