Art with Jacinta

The Year 1 and 2 students have been enjoying participating in the Term 2 Lunchtime Art Club. The students worked hard to create lots of purple, blue and green (cool coloured!) watercolour and crayon resist feathers. The Year 6 Art Captains put together all the feathers to create a giant collaborative wings mural which was inspired by the street artist, Kelsey Montague. The Year 1 and 2 students have been such focused artists during our introduction to cartooning. This term the students will be learning lots of cool cartooning tips and tricks, starting with carictature self portraits inspired by cartoonist, James Rizzi. 

The Year 1 and 2 students have enjoyed learning basic sewing skills. For their first sewing project the students had the choice to paint either a warm coloured or cool coloured paper plate and then learnt how to sew around the edge (a weaving technique). Next the students put their sewing skills to the test by sewing a heart on hessian material.

The Year 1 and 2 artists created these delicious looking ice cream cones! The students enjoyed learning about value and how to make tints and shades of a colour. Can you guess what we used for the sprinkles?!?! (clue - you might have this with a curry! It's rice)

The Year 1 and 2 students LOVED experimenting with the medium of charcoal to create these spooky tree silhouette artworks. The students cam up with some very creative tree silhouettes!
