Complementary Coloured Cool Cats!

The Year 1 and 2 artists have been working on sketches of cats, ready to fill with complementary colours next week. The students were inspired by the artworks of the artist, Laurel Burch's Fantastic Feline series.

The first ever fully painted film!

As many students would know, Vincent Van Gogh is one of my all time favourite artists! I was VERY excited to hear the news that a documentary film of Van Gogh's life is in developments. However this isn't just a normal documentary - keep reading below to find out why this film is so special and exciting... A Polish painter and film director are planning to create the first fully painted feature film ever made. 'Loving Vincent' will be made entirely of animated paintings in the swirling style of Van Gogh. The film will incorporate over 120 of Van Gogh's paintings, animated and brought to life. Term 1 in the Art Room!

The OOPS artists have been enjoying their weekly art lessons! We have a new Portrait Selfie Frame addition to the Art Room this year - Edvard Munch's 'The Scream'.  Be sure to pop in with your family after school sometime to show them what you have been working on in the Art Room, say hello to Jacinta and and get your funny photo taken in The Scream or the Mona Lisa!

Umbrella Colour Wheels

The Year 1 and 2 students started off the year in Art by setting up their special Art Portfolio books - ready to be filled up with fantastic artwork throughout the year! The following week the students refreshed their knowledge of Primary Colours and Secondary Colours . Using just the three primary colours they mixed up the secondary colours and presented them in the form of a colour wheel umbrella (with smooth and neat brushstrokes).  The Year 1 and 2 students will be referring to their colour wheel umbrellas over the next two art lessons as we focus on complementary colours and harmonious colours .  Week 1 - setting up our Art Portfolios  Some students added details to their umbrella colour wheel such a rain drops and puddles.  Carefully mixing up secondary colours on mixing trays.  The final touch to any piece of art.... the artist's name! The Year 1 students are super cleaners - so organised (thanks boys and girls!) ...
