Pre-Preps visit the Art Room!

Image
The prep-preps had a special visit to the art room last week. They had a tour, learnt how to put their art smocks on and sit safely on the big art room chairs. The little artists went on a jungle adventure and had some fun using jungle paint brushes and even painted their own line artwork.

Texture Burger Collages

Image
The Year 1/2 students have been learning all about collage this term in Art. For this task the students explored a wide variety of textured papers, fabrics, wools, foam and other items. The students experimented with the textured items and planned what to use to represent certain sandwich or burger items. How delicious do these burgers look?!??

Pencil and Crayon Sculptures

Image
The Year 5/6 students loved experimenting with the medium of plaster to create these cool pencil and crayon sculptures. The students learnt how to make an ‘armature’ (the ‘bones’ or inside of the sculpture) out of a cardboard tube, cardboard and masking tape. Next they used plaster gauze strips - they learnt how to dip it in warm water and then smooth it over the armature and create layers to form their sculpture. After leaving their sculptures to dry the final step was to design and paint them. Students could choose if they wanted to make a pencil or crayon.
