The Foundation students had lots of fun creating these authentic and original abstract expressionist paintings. The students took inspiration from Jackson Pollock, who was an American abstract expressionist painter, famous for his ‘action paintings.’ Instead of careful brush strokes, Jackson Pollock dripped, poured and splattered paint over the canvas. Using just the three primary colours, red, blue and yellow the students got to create their own Jackson Pollock inspired action paintings. Instead of splattering the paint everywhere like the famous artist did, the Foundation students used a marble rolling technique. There were lots of discussions about the amazing new colour combinations that were created as the colours evolved on the page.
