Here are some photos of our collaborative mindfulness painting from Open Night. I hope you got the chance to have your photo taken in the Art Room Photo Booth and with our Kelsey Montague inspired mural. Thanks for visiting the Art Room!
The Year 5/6 students loved experimenting with the medium of plaster to create these cool pencil and crayon sculptures. The students learnt how to make an ‘armature’ (the ‘bones’ or inside of the sculpture) out of a cardboard tube, cardboard and masking tape. Next they used plaster gauze strips - they learnt how to dip it in warm water and then smooth it over the armature and create layers to form their sculpture. After leaving their sculptures to dry the final step was to design and paint them. Students could choose if they wanted to make a pencil or crayon.
The Prep students created these mixed media Zany Zebra artworks after visiting real zebras on their zoo excursion earlier in the term! The students learnt that the art term 'mixed media' means to create an artwork incorporating more than one art material (or medium). For their Zany Zebra artworks the students used the following mediums; painting (with a focus on warm colours), drawing (an introduction to cartooning) and paper collage (for the grass trimming). The students even mounted their own artworks, complete with a decorative patterned frame.
