There were so many 'woohoos' when 1SB came into the Art Room after lunch and saw the carpet, sauce and food items. The students were very excited to discover that we were going to be doing our own Pro Hart inspired Performance Art piece! As a class 1SB came up with the creative idea to incorporate coloured patterns in the legs and wings of the dragonfly. Here is 1SB's detailed plan of their dragonfly design. "Woohooo!" The first addition.... mustard to the body of the dragonfly. Two students working on smoothing out the mustard with old paintbrushes, to form the shape of the dragonfly's body. Keeping the mustard inside the lines! Now for some spaghetti on the body. This gave the dragonfly's body a wiggly appearance. Two students working together to apply the sweet chilli sauce on two of the wings. The sweet chilli sauce was very sticky. Carefully adding on the rice bubbles to the wings. The studen...

The students of 2EO had so many clever and creative ideas for their collaborative Pro Hart influenced artwork - as a team we combined all of our ideas to create a dragonfly masterpiece! Working as a team to decide on a design. Wow what a creative idea.... using the mustard to create stripes on the dragonfly's body! Now to add on the other stripes, using BBQ sauce. The students did a great job of carefully spreading out the sauce, ensuring that it did not mix with the yellow stripes. Using mayonnaise to create white legs for the dragonfly - similar to Pro Hart's original. The mayonnaise on the legs was very bright, so together as a class we decided to also use it also for the wings. 2EO wanted to do just two wings for their dragonfly - similar to Harry Hart's dragonfly carpet creation (the grandson of Pro Hart - Harry Hart also did his own carpet ad) Adding on some strands of spaghetti for the dragonfly's legs. ...

2TR worked cooperatively and creatively as a class to develop this Pro Hart inspired artwork - on carpet... using food! Working out our design and what food items we should use for what part of the dragonfly. 2TR decided to use red cordial for the dragonfly's body. During our observations of this step it was evident that the cordial soaked into the carpet much quicker than any of the sauces. Working together with classmates to make sure the cordial stayed inside the lines. Now to add the green jelly body! Here is one student spooning it on and the other student is spreading it out using a spatula - again great team work from 2TR! Students working on the mayonnaise wings - this was similar to Pro Hart's dragonfly as the wings were white also. Working together to spread out the mayonnaise; being extra careful to keep it inside the lines and cover every corner. Pouring on, spreading and patting down the rice bubbles....
