Dali inspired elephants - Foundation

The Foundation artists looked at Salvador Dali's elephant artworks for inspiration for their own long-legged elephant artworks. Some students felt that Dali's elephant artwork was very strange, others thought it was 'cool.'  The students found it easier to work on the floor, instead of the table as our canvases (1metre length paper) were almost as big as themselves! The students used the soft chalk pastels to blend together warm colours to create the sunset background (just like Dali's!). The students mixed up their own shades of grey paint (white + black) to create the perfect elephant colour. The finishing touch to this artwork was the little felt blanket, which was cut out using a fringe technique and decorated with a line pattern. Wouldn't it be funny if elephants really had long legs like these?! The view would be great from up there!
